Many nationalities do not need a visa to participate in or attend the German courses offered on the Wiseward site. Some nationalities will need a visa to enter Germany.

Please remember that visa rules and regulations constantly change. It is your sole responsibility to ensure that you have the right travel documents, including a visa, for your intended course. The FAQs listed below aim to give you guidance on whether you need a visa and if you do what type of visa you will need.

I have booked a German language experience programme on the Wiseward website? Do I need a visa?

You almost certainly do not need a study visa. Depending on your nationality you may need a visitor visa. Additional useful information can be found on the German Federal Government website.

Do I need a visa to study long term in Germany?

For many nationalities, if you are going to Germany to study on a language course for up to three months you will not need a visa. EU citizens do not require a visa to enter Germany or to study in Germany. If you are planning to stay in Germany for longer than three months and study German at a recognised language school you may need a visa.

How much will a visa for Germany cost if I need one?

The standard visa fee is 75 Euros. There may be other additional administration costs as well so its worth checking. The final amount depends on the place, duration and purpose of your stay.

As a general rule, you can pay the fee in your local currency to the German Embassy or mission in your country of residence
