Probably most people who would like to take up a language would decide on the “most popular ones” such as English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian. But why not learn something different and unusual? Something like Russian perhaps?

Hundreds of million people speak Russian. Did you know that Russia covers about 1/8th of the world’s land surface and spans nine time zones? More than 270 million speak Russian. Don’t you want to join that community of Russian speakers?

Read all this amazing Russian literature in its original version. Enjoy reading original quality books such as War and Peace, Crime and Punishment, Anna Karenina, Eugene Onegin, The Idiot, and many others. A translator will never translate the exact thought and emotion of the author and that’s why you will learn Russian and read the original.

Russian culture. Their culture is not only abundant in great writers but also in musicians and ballet stars. The whole world knows about Russian cultural heritage and speaking the Russian language is a must if you want to fully enjoy and understand it.

Russia is one of the most powerful countries in the world. This is a country which is considered to be one of the largest producers of many raw materials and natural resources. They produce petroleum, diamonds, gold, copper, manganese, uranium, silver, graphite, and platinum. So now you are probably wondering what you have to do with this. If you speak Russian you will be able to start doing business with businessmen from this country. Russians respect their language and rarely learn English.

Enter postgraduate programs and achieve a great career thanks to the Russian language. Students that study Russian are almost always accepted to graduate in business schools, medical schools, law schools, etc. Add to this the fact that most of the people who speak Russian as their second language work as engineers at NASA, or run a bank operating in international markets. They also join The Peace Corps and achieve great careers.

The Russian language is very different from English. This may sound an odd reason, but in order to learn Russian you must learn their alphabet which is very different from the English one. Plus you read what you see, every letter has its own sound and you won’t have to ask yourself how is this pronounced or spelt. And add to this the part where their language doesn’t have a strict word order. You can put the verb in the last place of the sentence and get the same meaning as having put it at the beginning or in the middle of the sentence. Learning all this will be a very interesting experience.

I hope these reasons will convince you to start learning the Russian language and immerse yourself in their magnificent culture.
